History

Beginnings…

The Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ (PCoJC) was founded by Rev. and Sister H.H. Gibson in December 1946.  Rev. Gibson was originally from New Garden Pentecostal Church located in Elkmont, Alabama.  At the time, Elder Pat Abernathy was officiating pastor at New Garden.

Brother Gibson brought his family to middle Tennessee with a vision to found an Apostolic church and initiated  his quest from the humble venue of his own living room.  It was in this living room where some of PCoJC’s first converts were praying through.  Over the next three decades, the church continued to grow and mature under Pastor Gibson’s careful watch at the assembly’s first church building located at 317 E. 18th Street.

Passing the Torch…

In January 1978, Pastor Gibson passed to his eternal reward.  He left the church in the care of Pastor Henry Mobley.  The church continued to thrive under Pastor Mobley and eventually purchased property and started a building project with the purpose to re-locate to its current location at 724 New Lewisburg Hwy in 1994.

Today, PCoJC continues in the Apostle’s Doctrine and in the fellowship of the saints under the guidance of Elder Vince Dominguez.
